Club Notes 6th April 2015

This Saturday we take on Shalloe Pearse in the final round of the McArdle cup. Both teams have qualified for the semi final, the winner of this game will top the ground and play the runner up in group one.

The game throws in at 4:30pm at our home ground in Downhills Park. All support welcome!

Training takes place in Downhills Park, N17 6AP on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 7.45pm. Turnpike Lane underground station is a five minute walk and Seven Sisters is 15 minute walk from our ground.

New players are always very welcome to join our friendly club. We are based in North London and have our own pitch and top class changing facilities. The club covers a wide area including, our catchment area for players include; North, East and Central London, the city of London and Westminster, boroughs of Islington, Camden, Haringey, Kilburn, Hackney, along with many other areas. The Aisling Project who provide us with the use of their minibus on match days are running a raffle for two pairs of tickets for the sold out Ireland v France Rugby World Cup match and a host of other top notch prizes are being raffled to raise funds for the Aisling Return to Ireland Project.

They have tickets worth £600 in total. The tickets will get four people to the event which takes place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, October 11th. The prize also includes overnight accommodation for the winners.

They also have another two pairs of Rugby World Cup tickets into the raffle mix. These are two sets of tickets to the Ireland v Italy match, which is due to be held at the Olympic Stadium in London on Sunday, October 4

There are also a host of non-rugby prizes on offer in the fundraising initiative, including a week’s holiday in Ireland, courtesy of Trident Holiday Homes and Irish Ferries, four tickets to the Cheltenham November Race Meeting, courtesy of Avondale Construction, VIP tickets to the Aisling comedy benefit in November and tickets to see The Commitments at the Palace Theatre in London’s West End.

Aisling Coordinator Alex McDonnell mentioned: “Buying a ticket for the Aisling Project Prize Draw will ensure that our supporters’ generosity raises much needed funds, not just for our charity, which supports homeless and vulnerable Irish emigrants in London, but also for Irish clubs and societies throughout London.”

“Currently clubs such as Eire Og, Holloway Gaels and the Munster Rugby Supporters Club have become involved, but we are eager to hear from more clubs also,” he added.

Raffle tickets cost just £2 each or three for £5 and are being sold at a range of pubs across London.

The draw will take place on Saturday, September 12.
