Junior Championship 2012 –

Eire Og 3.13

Robert Emmetts 0.01

Sunday 22nd July 2012

The boys got off to a great start with fine attacking play from the throw in and it looked like the lads were up for it. We had eight well taken points in succession all from great passing moves set the tone for this Championship contest. Emmets were a man down but that didn’t stop them getting the ball up into Eire Og half, but getting scores proved elusive as the lads defended well. Once the lads got possession they moved the ball with the accuracy and skill of well seasoned footballers. Two quick fire goals from Conor Nilan and Richie Graham meant we were 2.08 to nil up at half time.

The second half started a bit slower for Eire Og and when Robert Emmets got their only score of the game, the lads kept their heads and replied with a well worked goal. We had several chances to increase our lead even further but we did not take our chances, Robert Emmets pushed a few extra men forward in the second half and had a couple of chances that where well defended and the defence kept there score to a single point. The introduction of a couple of lads from the bench brought a couple of fresh attacks and the game was over as a contest soon after.

This was our first Championship win and a lot of credit must go to Paul Mahar for the effort and commitment he has put in to develop the team.

The second Championships game is on Saturday against Cuchullians @4pm in Donkey lane, Enfield.
