Éire Óg 1-05
Shalloe Pearse 2-05
Sunday 1st July was a big day for the team, after two excellent training sessions during the week the confidence was on the up, there was an excellent turn out of 26 players given Paul a headache with the team selection.
We settled into the game well and where two points down when Conor Nilan picked up a loose ball, Conor broke through there defence and smashed the ball past the keeper.
We had settled into the game and where playing well when we gave away a silly free close to the goal, a combination of us been slow to get organised and there quick thinking resulted in Shalloe Pearse scoring a goal.
As the game progressed our confidence grew and we where on top, we went in at half time a point down.
We where slow off the blocks in the second half and conceded a couple of points. We got back into the game and where leading with 15 minutes let on the clock, Conor, Sweeney and Richie took there scores well, we had a couple of chances to open up a comfortable lead. We where well on and top and looking good for the win when with five minutes to go a deflected shot off one of our backs bobbled into the bottom corner leaving us three points down.
We fought on and had a couple of chances but we failed to take them. It was a big step in the right direction with the panel of players all playing there part. It was clear to see after the game we knew we let this one slip and the disappointment was clear to see.
Scorers: Conor Nilan – 1.02, Peter Sweeney 0.02, Richie Graham 0.01
