Many thanks to Paddy Fitzsimmons and the Faltering Fullback for the new kit which we wore for the first time yesterday.

Match report: Eire Og 1-6 v 1-5 Shalloe Pearses

We took on Shalloe Pearses last Sunday in the Mc Ardle cup play off in Greenford. It was our first outing of the season in our new kit. Paul and Paddy had a large panel to choose with 25 lads available for selection.

The game got under way with the wind in our favour, we made good use of this and took an early lead, Conor Nilan was having a good tussle with his man when he pulled up injured. Darren Carroll came on for Conor. Shalloe Pearses got into the game and got reduced our lead to a couple of points.

Our midfield pairing of Sean Allen and Damian Shannon where having a solid game supplying Donal Flynn, Diare Mc Cormack and Darren Carroll with plenty of low balls.

Steven Perry, Richie Graham and Tim Kelly in the half forwards where getting lots of space and time to take their chances to open up a five point lead.

Shalloe made a break down the field and what looked like a shot that was going straight into the goal but Keith Doherty pulled off a top class save to keep our lead at five points going into half time.

The second half got underway with Shalloe firing on all cylinders and got a couple of early points to reduce our lead, our fullbacks of Niall Murray, Nigel Drew and Tom Lawless soon got on top and ensured that the Shalloe forwards did not get any space. Our half backs of Dermot Reynolds, Brian Digney and Kieran Lyons where putting in some big hitting challenges and winning the second ball.

Cousins Liam Dunne and Paul Keohe came on for Dermot and Diare in the second half to give us a fresh set of legs.

Thanks to all the people who came out to Greenford to support us on the day.

The final score was 1-6 to 1-5 in our favour. We would like thank Shalloe Pearses for a hard fought game, We wish Shalloe the all the rest for the rest of the season
