Training & Games

We played Thomas Mc Curtains in sixth round of the league on Thursday in Goodmayes. Midweek games can be a nightmare to get to but fair play to the lads that chauffeured the lads from the tube station to the pitch.

We came into the game off the back of a comprehensive win against Shalloe Pearses. The management team made two changes to the team with Eoin Flanagan, Cian Mc Govern coming into the half forward line.

The game got underway with Eire Og registering several early scores. Some good play between Joe Mc Mahon, Ronan Campfiled and Steven Perry seen us build up a four point lead with a quater of the game played. A sweet move from midfiled seen the ball fall to Joe who turned his man inside out and made a direct run for goal, Joe smashed the ball into the back of the onion sack. Mc Curtains could not handle the pace of our forwards. We went on to hit seven wides before half time.

The second half got underway with Mc Cutains firing on all cyclinders in the first ten mintues of the second half. Some solid defending from Nigel Drew, Liam Dunne and Brian Digney ensured Mc Curtains chances where limited. Midway through the second half Mc Curtains made a burst for goal leaving Liam with no option but to foul his man. Liam seen the use of the black card. Adam Mc Aviney came on for Liam. Dave Moran had a solid performance in goal pulling off on of the saves of the season.

Our changes where limited in the second half but when we had them we took them. We defended well to see the game out.

Fulltime score 2-12 to 0-14. We wish Thomas Mc Curtains all the best for the rest of the season.

Our next fixture is on Saturday 28th June against Crawley and Brigthon Gaels in Crawley at 4:30pm.
