Challenge game: Eire Og V Thomas McCurtains

What a difference a week makes in sport. This week it was the complete opposite of last week with the non stop rain on Saturday ensured we where in for an entertaining game.

A great turnout from the lads in the panel ensured that Paul and Paddy had some tough decisions to make. This was made easier knowing it was a challenge game and we could get all the lads some much needed game time.

The game got underway a bit late as we waited for the referee to make an appearance from the clubhouse. Some strong early tackles ensured that this would be a lively encounter. The motto one in all in seemed to come to mind!

TMC took an early lead but we where not going to lay down and that, some swift passing from Brian “The beast” Digney, Big Damo Shannon and Sean Allen helped us to work the ball up the pitch and Dairmaid Cadhain expertly fed the ball fell to Tommy Mc Govern to smash the ball into the onion sack. 1-0 to 0-3 and it was all square. Richie Graham and Donal “Zeus” Flynn where having a solid game after their romantic meal on Friday night! Liam Dunne, Niall Murray and Dermot “Dermo” Reynolds where putting in a solid performance.

Both teams squandered several chances, Keith “soon to be a Daddy” Doherty was kicking was inch perfect in to Damo who won the majority of the breaking balls. Just before the half TCM made a good move down the pitch and a well placed kick looped over Keith into the net. 1-0 to 1-3 at half time. We regrouped at half time and made one change Dermot made way for Kieran “One Direction” Lyons.

The second half got underway and we where quick out of the blocks with Tom “hand pass” Lawless and Dairmaid Cadhain putting in some strong tackles and working the ball well. The ball was well worked up the pitch towards Tim Kelly who passed to Louie “Osama” Doherty who was ice cool with his finish. 2-0 to 1-4.

We made several changed with Richie Bradley, Daire McCormack, Kieran “Lux” Bacon, Connie McCarthy been introduced into the game.

TMC got two more uncontested scores 2-0 to 1-6 the game finished.  This performance showed that week on week progress is been made.
