Club Notes 30th June 2014

Training & Games

We made the long trek to Crawley last Saturday to take on Crawley and Brighton Gaels in the final round of the league.

The weather conditions were not ideal with a heavy shower just before throw in ensuring the ball would be greasy. Both teams struggled with the conditions early on. Some good play from Joe Mc Mahon seen him make a burst for goal and to slot the ball past the BCG keeper. We had several other chances to take points but instead opted to go for goals. This could have been our downfall should BCG have been more clinical with their opportunities.

We went into half time with a five point lead.

We were quick off the mark in the second half with a couple of early points to increase our lead. Brighton had a bright patch in the second half, they reduced our lead to four points. Our full forward line was on fire with Aaron Perill netting two goals and Conor Nilan who played his first games since returning for University got one goal.

Brian Dickney had a great game in at fullback!

Stand out players on the day where Joe, Aaron, Conor and Brian Dickney.

Fulltime score 5-9 to 1-13. We wish Crawley and Brighton Gaels all the best for the rest of the season.

We play in the first round of the Championship this Saturday 5th July against Tir Chonaill Gaels in Greenford at 4:30pm.
